Depression - What Is It Really?
Depression is not just a passing mood, but an illness that affects both the mind and the body. It affects how you think about things, how you feel about yourself, even how you eat, sleep, and interact with other people. Depression is NOT a sign of weakness or laziness, but a true medical condition that can cause enormous pain and suffering for both the person afflicted with depression and for their family and friends as well. Left untreated, symptoms of depression can last for weeks or months, even years. Sadly, most people who suffer from depression - a number estimated to be almost 10 per cent of the population - never get treatment, and suffer needlessly because of it. Depression Is Treatable
Over the past 20 or 30 years there have been a number of new and innovative treatments for depression developed. These include both medicinal/drug treatments like Prozac, Paxil and the like, and "talk" therapies like cognitive-behavioral therapy or sessions with a psychologist, psychiatrist or other trained counsellor. One of the newest and most exciting developments in the treatment of depression is called EFT - Emotional Freedom Techniques.
Emotional Freedom Techniques
(EFT) Based on impressive new discoveries involving the body's subtle energies, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) has been clinically effective in thousands of cases for Trauma & Abuse, Stress & Anxiety, Fears & Phobias, Depression, Addictive Cravings, Children's Issues and hundreds of physical symptoms including headaches, body pains and breathing difficulties. Properly applied, over 80% achieve either noticeable improvement or complete cessation of the problem.
EFT is NOT a substitute for medical care. If you're seeing a doctor or taking medication for depression, you should continue to do so. But you can add EFT to your current treatment and reap the benefits of this extraordinary discovery. It could very well help you overcome your depression and, with your doctor's blessing, end the need for depression medications which often come with unwanted and sometimes serious side effects.
